PROM NIGHT.... 20 YEARS AFTER. :)

I still cannot believe that September is almost finished! Time does fly when you are having fun. Some weeks ago I had the privilege of attending the Filipino Scuba Divers Gala and the dress code or theme was Prom Night. Well, if you are interested to know what I wore to my prom, you'd be happy to know that no, I didn't wear pink and no, I didn't wear something lacey or rufflly (Webster, pardon me!) or anything remotely close to that,  nor did don a full skirt to my Junior prom. But I also didn't wear doc martens to the prom or skull earrings and emo stuff. :) What I did wear though was a red evening gown with a thigh high slit. hehehehehe.

For the gala I decided to skip the evening gown and opted for an animal print chiffon blazer with a faux shoulder detailing. I got this from an online shop on Facebook for less than AED 100! I then paired my blazer with my Gothic lace skirt (prom feel... missed that cake icing look in highschool. lol!) and cinched my waist with a corset belt.

Although I didn't walk away with the Prom Queen crown and scepter  I did choose the Prom King for the evening and listened to my favourite 80's songs from the Bangles, Gene Loves Jezebel and just relived the memories of that evening called Prom Night. :)

Love and Light my lovelies!

TLC FOR YOUR CROWNING GLORY

Hi my lovelies! I am back! Hopefully not go MIA for a while. :). So, how have you all been? We have loads to catch up on, don't you all think?

The Dubai breeze is slowly getting more tolerable, some of us will warmly welcome the chill of 'Autumn" while a lot will try to hang on to the warmth of the Summer breeze.

The changing of the season brings a lot of beauty concerns. While the warmth of summer may give us covetable bronzed skin it also leaves our crowning glory dry - drier than the sub Saharan desert. If you are like me who has looked at a ton of hair products to restore her crowning glory to its 'unparched' state and has ended up being frustrated because none seem to work, well, ladies, your crowning glory has finally met its Knight in Shining Armour  in  Davines Natural Tech Line.

If you are like me who absolutely has to wash her hair every single day,  you need a hair care system that not only cleanses the hair (its main purpose) but your products of choice should also be able to protect your scalp from the unseemingly scalding water of Dubai and everything that comes with living in the sandpit. :)

Davine's NaturalTech line not only boasts of this clean, organic and extremely addicting mild scent but it perfectly combines Nature's finest gifts and Man's latest innovation.

I have 2 of their shampoos. The Nourishing Shampoo which smells like a spa in a bottle is perfect for women who are suffering from dry and dehydrated scalp, which in this region is quite normal.

The other shampoo is what I use on a daily basis, The Energizing Shampoo with its minty scent kind of wakes me up in the morning pre-coffee :) and short of sounding redundant I find that the water here in Dubai contributed to my hair fall out and since I started using the shampoo the fall out has dramatically lessened.

Both shampoos are complimented by Davine's Nourishing Vegetarian Miracle Conditioner. Again, if you are like me who has a penchant for light, fresh and very organic scents, a whiff of this conditioner will get you hooked... all the more when you start using it. Because it is summer I avoid blow drying my hair and after air drying it does have a tendency to get a little frizzy but since using the Conditioner instead of frizzy dry air dried hair I have loosely curled hair, which is pretty sexy and touchable. :)

I guess the only downside of products like Davines is that they are not sold in Supermarkets but in Specialty Salons only, however, when you think about it, when you purchase it in a salon   you get expert advice on how to keep your crowning glory in it's healthiest  state.

I hope that this product review has been helpful and always remember to stay happy and always smile! :)

Love and Light,

A

ALL THE GOOD MEN......

Do you my lovelies remember the line of Cameron Diaz in the 1st Charlie's Angels movie, the scene  where she was fighting with the bad guys and her cute bartender love interest was calling her? Well, if you don't, let me refresh your memory. She said, as she was giving the bad guy an uppercut, "do you know how hard it is to find a good guy in Los Angeles?' That line, regardless of your zipcode seems true! Before meeting my better half, I kind of accepted the fact that I might not meet him at all and the words, witty banter and quotable quotes from this Novel by Danabelle Gutierrez pretty much summed up what a single girl goes through before meeting the man whom she has secretly wrote love letters to.

I am sharing this lovely excerpt  from the book which is lovingly called, Dear Someone Letters, which I think aside from being well written is just so full of emotion.... despair, hope and longing.... emotions that we often feel while wandering the face of the earth and pondering....... "Where is he?'

Dear Someone,

I am attempting to write to you of the pretty little lights that dance in the night to the enchanting melody that I hear in my mind while a deafening silence fills this dimly lit room. I am awkwardly asking for your attention, though I know it may not be granted; not fully; not in its entirety; not yet. Despite that, I am still asking you for a sliver; A thin slice of your precious time.

I don't know where you are or what you're doing. As for me, I'm still here. Still waiting for you. I don't even know who you are. But I know that you're out there or at least that's what I knew… I've always had an unwavering belief that everyone has a soulmate, but as of late, I've started to doubt your existence. And I don't want to. I want to keep believing that love is magical… Because the alternative would make for a sad and lonely world to live in. However, I do find myself feeling less and less hopeful and becoming more and more cynical. So in an attempt to keep believing that you exist, I will write to you as I wait.

The seasons are changing. I wonder if you've noticed… Or have you fallen into the trap of your own little world where you notice nothing except your own heavy breathing? Our lives, as it seems, have been playing on fast forward and slow motion at the same time. And going too slow or too fast would exhaust anyone, I would imagine.

Does it hurt? Your pain would hurt me, you know. I would ask you how much it hurts, but you wouldn't be able to answer that given the circumstances. Yet, I know that this is hurting you, because it is hurting me.

Do you feel a void? That was rhetorical… And of course you couldn't answer that. However, I know that you feel it. In fact, I'm almost certain that the void is imperatively larger than you thought it would be.

I am romanticizing this a little too much, I know… But why shouldn't I? It is meant to be overly romanticized. Otherwise, what else would we be waiting for? I am becoming more and more impatient and understanding that this is a process helps, in that I get to be a little more optimistic and poetic about it.

I'm finding my way… How are you coming along? I wish you would just follow your heart and trust it to bring you to where I am right now. Right this second, as I wait for you in this dimly lit room where I'm writing to you about the pretty little lights that dance in the night. Waiting for you to realize that I'm not giving up… I'm waiting for you.

I love you. My heart is yours to take. Make haste.

As Always,
E.

FALL FOR AUTUMN

In some countries, Fall has officially started, however, here in Sunny and Sandy Dubai, it is still warm and Fall (as some people still wish to refer to it has yet to come.... if it will come at all). To celebrate the changing of the season, the cooler breeze of the air I decided to create my official fall look.

I love the iridescence of copper, the warmth of cinnamon against the richness of forest green. My official Fall Look is not for the shy woman, this is for a woman who knows what she's got and is not afraid to show it! :-)
