PRODUCT REVIEW: MAC'S MATCHMASTER FOUNDATION

There is a reason and one reason alone as to why MAC's new foundation offering is called MatchMaster, simply because it is. I kind of stopped buying MAC products for a while because I was hoping for them to release a product that will just blow me away, the way the Pro Long Wear Foundation and Concealer did.

The product that ended my rather long hiatus from the MAC counters was the MatchMaster Foundation. I waited for quite a while and I was wowed. I really did not know what to expect from the product when I bought it. The sales person could just be sales talking me by using all the superlatives to describe the foundation. Atleast with the Pro Long Wear Foundation and Concealer, I kind of know what to expect .... it stays. But with MatchMaster, I have to try it to believe its claims.

According to the MAC's website and I quote in verbatim. " New Foundation technology using translucent pigments to enable a fully personalised finish influenced by the subtleties of your own skin's undertone.' Sounds high tech, right? Well, the way I understood it is that this formulation magically adapts to your undertone and we are not just talking about your skin colour, we go deeper, your undertone, this probably explains the new numbering system of the MatchMaster Foundation. You will not see NC or NW, instead you will see numbers. the colour that I picked was 4.0

So, let us get down to the basics. The MatchMaster has 35 ML of product and it retails here in Dubai for about AED 150 {+/-, I think, I threw out the receipt :-( Sorry!). It has SPF 15, which explains as to why the photos that I took of myself was so washed out/ way to shiny (TIP: Foundations that have SPF does give a flashback because of the SPF. This is the reason as to why I never use liquid foundations during weddings as the bride gets photographed so often and you run the risk of her looking oily)

If you follow me on twitter, I tweeted this photo around, last week of May, immediately after applying the foundation and was just in awe. This was just the foundation, no concealer. Unlike the ProLong Wear where you can't leave it on your skin without having to buff it immediately, MatchMaster doesn't set so fast and when buffed gives you a satiny finish that is just divine to touch.

This is a better photo of the foundation with unblended concealer.

What's great about the MasterMaster Foundation is that you will not be too overwhelmed with so many colours as they batched foundation numbers to together to come up with one shade that will fit perfectly. Something that I have noticed as well is that MatchMaster's shades are not too yellow nor is it too pink as opposed to the other foundations that they have released.

This is me taken a few days ago using the MatchMaster Foundation with the Beauty Blender infront of my Balcony--- (TIP: Applying your foundation infront of natural light is the best way to do it.)

This photo was taken with a professional camera with one umbrella light. As you know, I don't like having my photos retouched and you can see that the MatchMaster does work wonders.

In a nutshell, I have to say that I am impressed with MAC's new Foundation offering. It is a good buy for its price and it did restore my faith in MAC.

TANK AND SKINNY UP 3 LEVELS

Hi Lovelies! :) Are you all having a great start of the week? I surely hope so.Whenever I style an outfit, whether it is for a shoot or for myself, I cannot help but go back to basics and build from there. So, yesterday when was getting ready to head to church and do my errands, I thought of dressing my basic tank top and skinny jeans. :)

Hope you like the outfits!

Love and Light,

A

LET US GO BACK TO BASICS!

THE SKELETON.... HEHEHE
WELL, THIS IS THE SKELETON ON THE ENSEMBLES THAT WE WILL BE PUTTING TOGETHER.

TANKTOP FROM H&M
SKINNY JEANS FROM HOT KISS
SNEAKERS FROM NEW LOOK

THIS 1ST ENSEMBLE IS SOMETHING THAT I WOULD WEAR TO THE NEARBY GROCERY, ON SHOOTS, SHORT ERRANDS

1ST LEVEL
THIS IS WHAT I ACTUALLY WORE THAT DAY. I JUST ADDED A LIGHT WEIGHT, SLEEVELESS CARDI FROM FOREVER 21 TO MAKE IT CHURCH APPROPRIATE

2ND LEVEL
I SEE MYSELF WEARING THIS OUTFIT TO A CASUAL LUNCH OUT WITH FRIENDS, CLIENTS MEETINGS.

I WAS A LITTLE APPREHENSIVE PAIRING MY ANIMAL PRINT JACKET WITH MY ANIMAL PRINT WEDGES FOR FEAR OF LOOKING TO MATCHY-MATCHY, BUT DECIDED OTHERWISE. TURNS OUT OKAY. :)

FOR ACCESSORIES, I WILL CHANGE MY USUAL WHITE GOLD ACCESSORIES TO GOLD ONES TO COMPLEMENT THE WARM TONE OF THE ENSEMBLE.

ANIMAL PRINT BLAZER FROM ZARA
ANIMAL PRINT WEDGES FROM NEW LOOK
ORANGE JIJE CLUTCH FROM HERMES

3RD LEVEL
I SEE MYSELF WEARING THIS OUTFIT ON A DINNER AND NIGHT OUT WITH FRIENDS. :)

I WILL MOST LIKELY KEEP MY ORIGINAL WHITE GOLD ACCESSORIES AND AMP UP MY MAKE UP WITH A DARK SMOKEY EYE AND PALE LIPS AND PUT DOWN MY HAIR. :)

TUCKING MY JEANS ON THE ANKLE STRAP OF MY JEANS GIVES THE ILLUSION OF S LONGER SILHOUETTE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE AS SMALL AS ME. :)

SEQUINED BLAZER FROM FOREVER 21
STUDDED STILETTOS FROM HIGH STYLE FANCIES
BRACELETS FROM ALDO
SILVER CLUTCH FROM ALDO

MY NEW FOUNDATION ROUTINE

Hey Everyone! So happy to be back to blogging after a short hiatus. I can now relax a bit as most my unpacking is finished! I just need to tackle my balcony! And I shall do that tomorrow.

My Foundation Routine changes from season to season and it also depends on the state of my skin. So, I will most likely have a different foundation routine come the colder months.

It is not uncommon for most of us to have oily skin during the hotter months, however, my skin is a little dry, especially on the sides of my nose so I use a richer moisturiser on that area.

I would have wanted to post more photos, unfortunately, as I am filming infront of my balcony, I realised that most of the photos looked a little washed out and I hate photo shopping my photos most especially when I talk about make up.

Enough writing now and let's get on with my new foundation routine! :)

Love and Light,

A

MY NEW FOUNDATION ROUTINE

PRE MAKE UP PREPARATION

NOTE: MUST READ!
BEFORE WE MOVE ON TO DISCUSS MAKE UP, ALLOW ME TO APOLOGISE FOR THE LIONESS HAIR! HAHAHAHA! I HAVE BEEN AIR DRYING MY HAIR RECENTLY

AS YOU CAN SEE, I HAVE SOME BLEMISHES THAT DO NEED CORRECTING AND THOUGH THIS MAY BE AN INCRIMINATING PHOTO, WHICH WILL HAUNT ME FOR A WHILE, I'D TAKE THE RISK IN ORDER TO BRING YOU LOVELIES AN HONEST TO GOODNESS BLOG POST. :)

SO, FOR PRE MAKE UP PREP, I WASHED WITH MY CETAPHIL CLEANSER FOLLOWED BY MY DERMALOGICA MULTI ACTIVE TONER.

TO MOISTURISE THE EYE AREA, I USED ESTEE LAUDER'S ADVANCE NIGHT REPAIR.

LIKE WHAT I HAD PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED, THE SIDES OF MY NOSE HAVE BECOME EXTREMELY DRY AND THE WORST THING THAT YOU CAN DO IS APPLY FOUNDATION AND CONCEALER ON A DRY PATCH OF SKIN THAT IS PEELING. TO MOISTURISE, I USED MY CETAPHIL MOISTURISING LOTION AND MASSAGED IT INTO SKIN. THIS PROCEDURE ENCOURAGES BLOOD FLOW AND ACTIVATES YOUR LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE,WHICH REDUCES, IF NOT ELIMINATES THE BLOATED LOOK! :)

NEW FOUNDATION ROUTINE

STEP ONE: I APPLIED MAC'S MATCHMASTER FOUNDATION IN 4.0 ON THE CENTRE OF MY FACE AND WITH A DAMP BEAUTY BLENDER I STARTED TAPPING, DABBING, EVEN ROLLING THE FOUNDATION ALL OVER MY SKIN.

THIS PROCEDURE, I FIND, MAKES THE FOUNDATION MELT INTO YOUR SKIN, THUS, MAKING IT LOOK MORE NATURAL.

STEP TWO: BLEMISH COVER UP.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO COVER A BLEMISH IS TO NOT PILE ON THE PRODUCTS.

I USED THE GREEN CORRECTOR FROM MUFE'S CAMOUFLAGE CREAM PALETTE AND LIGHTLY DABBED ON THE RED SPOTS WITH A FINE TIPPED BRUSH FROM EVERYDAY MINERALS.

WHEN SPOT CORRECTING, IT IS IMPORTANT TO USE A FINE TIPPED BRUSH, IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE, WHY NOT TRY YOUR EYE LINER BRUSH. :)

STEP THREE: I CONCEALED AS USUAL WITH MAC'S PRO LONGWEAR CONCEALER.

NOW, THERE IS A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO CONCEALING BLEMISHES. UNLIKE CONCEALING DARK CIRCLES OR REDNESS ON THE SKIN WHERE YOU DIRECTLY APPLY THE PRODUCT, CONCEALING BLEMISHES TAKES MORE CARE AND PRECISION. I DO NOT APPLY IT DIRECTLY ON THE BLEMISH BUT I TAKE A SMALL AMOUNT OF CONCEALER FROM THE BACK OF MY HAND AND APPLY IT WITH A BRUSH EVERY SO LIGHTLY.

INSTEAD OF USING A BRUSH TO BLEND, I USE THE CUSHION ON MY RING FINGER TO LIGHT DAB.

CONCEALING BLEMISHES TAKES A LIGHT HAND. START WITH A LITTLE AND THEN ADD WHEN IT STILL REQUIRES MORE COVERAGE.

NEW FOUNDATION ROUTINE

AS A RULE OF THUMB, I APPLY ALL CREAM, LIQUID PRODUCTS AND FOR MY HIGHLIGHT, I USED NARS' ORGASM ILLUMINATOR ON MY CHEEKBONES.

INSTEAD OF IMMEDIATELY USING A POWDER BRUSH TO SET MY BASE, I USED MY MAC POWDER PUFF TO PRESS MY FACE POWDER AND I USED THE BRUSH TO REMOVE THE EXCESS.

FOR ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHT, I LIGHTLY ADDED MAC'S CHEZ CHEZ LAME ON MY CHEEKBONES.

I FOLLOWED THIS UP WITH MY NARS' LAGUNA BRONZER.

NEW FOUNDATION ROUTINE

AHA! NO MORE LIONESS HAIR! I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU LOVELIES BUT I SIMPLY CANNOT HAVE MY ALL OVER MY FACE AND NAPE AND NECK DURING SUMMER!

I CONTOURED MY NOSE WITH MUFE'S CONTOURING KIT BUT LEFT THE REST OF MY FACE UNCONTOURED.

FOR THE BROWS, IT IS JUST BEN NYE'S BROW PENCIL IN MEDIUM BROWN AND MIKYAJY'S CLEAR BROW GEL.

ON MY TOP LASHES, IT IS RIMMEL'S MASCARA IN GLAM EYES.

GOT NO EYESHADOW AND LINER. :)

FOR THE LIPS

I LINED MY LIPS WITH NARS' AFRICA QUEEN LINER AND APPLIED NARS' GLOSS IN TURKISH DELIGHT
(MAKES THE LIPS FULLER! - BUT THAT IT A TOTALLY DIFFERENT POST. )

NEW FOUNDATION ROUTINE PRODUCTS

MAC'S MATCHMASTER FOUNDATION IN 4.0
NARS' ORGASM ILLUMINATOR

COLOUR ME PRETTY!

And we back to regular programming my lovelies! I am also finally able to breath as my house move, organisation is almost finally over! If you follow me on instagram, you'd have seen some snippets of the areas that I have started fixing. :) House moves are stressful but after all the junk has been thrown out, it is very rewarding to see everything in its place. So, as a reward to myself, I am going to soak in some sunshine this week and take a break. :)

Everyone seems to be doing colourful make up and I want to share the step by step 'procedure' to the Bohemian Bridal Look that I did for the month of June.

Hi there my lovelies! I know that I have been missing in action of late but now that I am almost done fixing my new place and the Euro Cup finally finished, we can now go back to regular programming!

I can't believe that we are on the 2nd half of the year already! Time flies so fast and though I promised that this June Bride Blog Special will be more packed than last year's, I had to attend to pressing matters and commitments and for that I do apologise.

So, this is the final look for the June Bride Blog Special and I call it The Classic, Radiant Bride Look. I hope you all like this and I will be back this July for more looks, reviews, hairstyles, outfit pairings and other stuff of randomness :)

Till then, hope you are all staying happy and healthy :)
