LAID BACK BEAUTY

I can't wait for the weekend to begin! lalalalala! So, ladies and maybe a few gents, the work week is finally over and Thursday concludes our 5 minute beauty routine, however, I will be making a summary of all the products that I personally think are great for the ladies who are always on the go, so, we don't have any more EXCUSES for looking like we all just rolled out of bed when we are supposed to be looking our best as we tackle our various roles as women of the 21st Century. Remember, we have a huge responsibility as women, we are mothers (like me and our kids look up to us.), we are daughters, sisters, wives etc etc and we who says we have to play our various demanding roles with dark circles when we have concealer and blush and high heels?

Anyway, did I digress. Allow me to finish this post. This look I think took me less than 5 minutes. Very basic, I did not even apply liner. What I wanted really was to concentrate on the making the skin look great and glowing. So, I hope that you guys still like this look even though it is very simple.

Love and Light,
A

LET'S GO BACK TO BASICS FOR THURSDAY

1ST PHOTO TAKEN BEFORE HEADING OUT

2ND PHOTO TAKEN WITH NATURAL LIGHT

3RD PHOTO WAS TAKEN I THINK AROUND 7PM.

I WANTED THE USE COLOURS THAT ARE NATURALLY FOUND ON THE FACE, KIND OF MONOCHROMATIC.

FOR THE BASE

I APPLIED A SMALL AMOUNT BENEFIT'S POREFESSIONAL ALL OVER MY FACE.

TIP: DON'T PILE ON THE PRODUCTS, THINKING THAT IT WILL BE MORE EFFECTIVE, INSTEAD APPLY IT ON AREAS WHERE YOU THINK YOU NEED IT MOST AND YOU CAN SKIP THE OTHER AREAS.

I EVENED OUT ANY DISCOLORATION WITH MAC'S STUDIO SCULPT CONCEALER.

TO GIVE MY SKIN THE GLOW THAT I WANTED, I APPLIED BENEFIT'S SUN BEAM WITH MY RING FINGER ON THE APPLES OF MY CHEEKS, A LITTLE ON THE FOREHEAD AND CHIN.

WITH MAC'S CREME COLOUR BASE IN PEARL, I HIGHLIGHTED MY CHEEK PLANE, BRIDGE OF THE NOSE.

I POWDERED WHERE IT IS NEEDED AND WITH MAC'S 109 BRUSH I APPLIED NARS' BRONZER IN LAGUNA ON THE APPLES OF MY CHEEKS, TEMPLES, A LITTLE ON THE FOREHEAD, TIP OF THE NOSE AND CHIN.

FOR THE EYES AND BROWS

MY BROW'S CONSTANT COMPANION, BENEFIT'S BROW ZINGS IN LIGHT AND SIGMA'S ANGLED BRUSH.

TO PROVIDE SOME SHEEN ON MY LIDS I APPLIED SOME OF BENEFIT'S SUN BEAM ON MY LIPS AND THEN MAC'S CREME COLOUR BASE ON MY BROW BONE.

I CURLED MY LASHES AND APPLIED 2 COATS OF RIMMEL'S MASCARA ON MY TOP AND BOTTOM LASHES.

FOR THE LIPS

MOISTURISED LIPS THEN LINED IT WITH MAC'S CREAMEOLA AND I USED NYX'S NUDE LIP PALETTE.

THE ONE I AM WEARING IS THE 1ST ONE ON THE LEFT.

5 MINUTES TO FLAWLESS WITH BB CREAM

Hello Beautiful People! It is weekend in Dubai already and got loads to stuff to do.  Pre Production meeting tomorrow,4 to 5 more blog posts to do before we enter the Merry Month of May. :) So, what are you guys planning to do this weekend? Whatever it is, hope you all this 2 day break, rest, relax and rejuvenate. :)

I was introduced to the wonderful world of BB Creams (AKA Blemish Balm Cream) by my good friend, D. She handed me a tube of BB Cream from Missha and said, "bb girl (we call each other that) want to 'makinis' (this means flawless in our language) you got to try this!' And I was not disappointed. :)

When I posted the photo on Facebook, so many people asked what a BB cream is and for the benefit of some people who may not know yet, the BB Cream was made for the skin of people who underwent laser treatments and surgery.Aside from protection, it also wast meant to provide some kind of coverge.

The BB Cream that I personally use is from Missha and it is in fact one of the leading manufacturers of the BB cream. Though it is an Asian brand, I am very happy that they have stores in Dubai. I like this brand because it has some sparkle in it, not so much that you end up looking like a 'Cullen" but enough to make you glow. Worn with just a concealer, it is perfect for the hot months of Summer. Worn as a base under any type of foundation, it can rival the effect of the airbrush. As far as I know because it was meant to protect the skin after laser surgery, all BB Creams multi-tasks. It moisturises, covers and protects your skin from the harmful UV Rays of the Sun. Missha has SPF 27 and though I prefer using products which are fragrance free, I kind of like the scent that Missha has.

What used to be an Asian Beauty Secret has already penetrated the Western Beauty World as top Cosmetic Companies have started releasing their own versions of the BB Cream. To date, I know Estee Lauder has released their own. I have yet to try it to see if it comes close to the Asian formulations.

So, I hope that this post shed some light on the BB cream and I do encourage all of you to try it out for this season and let know what you think. :)

Love and Light,

FLAWLESS TILL AFTER WORK WITH MISSHA BB CREAM

FOR THE BASE

I APPLIED MISSHA BB CREAM ALL OVER MY FACE WITH JUST MY JUST FINGERS

(TIP: THE WARMTH OF YOUR FINGERS  BREAKS DOWN THE INGREDIENTS OF ANY FOUNDATION/BASE THAT YOU APPLY, MAKING IT BLEND/MELT INTO YOU SKIN LIKE ITS YOUR OWN. SO DON'T FRET IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A FOUNDATION BRUSH.)

AGAIN, USING MY RING FINGER, I EVENED OUT ANY DISCOLORATION UNDER THE EYES, AROUND THE NOSE AND CORNERS OF MY MOUTH WITH MAC'S STUDIO SCULPT CONCEALER.

WITH MAC'S 109 BRUSH I POWDERED THE AREAS WHERE I GET OILY AND AS USUAL I LEFT MY CHEEKS UNPOWDERED.

FOR THE EYES AND BROWS

I DEFINED MY BROWS WITH BENEFIT'S BROWZINGS IN LIGHT WITH MY SIGMA ANGLED BRUSH.

WITH MY RING FINGER I APPLIED MAC'S PAINT POT IN INDIANWOOD ON MY LIDS AND FOR MY BROW HIGHLIGHT I APPLIED NARS COPACOBANA.

TO DEFINE MY EYES, I LINED MY UPPER LASH LINE WITH MAC'S SPARECHANGE LINER AND ON THE LOWER LASH LINE I CONCENTRATED ON THE OUTER CORNERS.

TO BRIGHTEN MY EYES, I APPLIED MUFE'S WHITE EYE LINER ON MY WATER LINE.

I CURLED MY LASES AND APPLIED TWO COATS OF MASCARA ON MY TOP AND BOTTOM LASHES.

FOR THE LIPS

I MOISTURISED WITH DERMALOGICA'S CLIMATE CONTROL LIP TREATMENT THEN LINED MY LIPS WITH L'OREAL'S MILK CHOCOLATE LINER THEN FILLED IT IN MAC'S LIP GLASS.

9 TO 5 AND BEYOND

The look that I was wearing on Day 3 along with my outfit worked from 9 to 5 and beyond with a few changes.

After work, I had to meet up with friends for dinner and since I was running late and wanted to pick up some stuff from home, I really didn't have time to completely change my outfit. So, I grabbed my New Look Flares and tucked my Forever 21 dress and off I go! This isn't the 1st time that I used a dress as a top.

Sometimes turning your dresses into tops expands your wardrobe. So have a look at your closet this weekend and see if there are dresses that you can turn into tops.... experiment and expand your wardrobe! :)

Love and Light,

IN FULL BLOOM IN 5 MINUTES

Weekend is here! How great is that?! My weekend is off to a great start. Just finished watching Battleship and I have to admit that I was both happy and sad that Alexander Skarsgard died in the early part of movie otherwise I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the movie! lol! Kidding aside, isn't he just gorgeous?!

Anyway, enough of the high school giddiness and let us talk about getting you in Full Bloom in 5 minutes!

Hope you all like the simple, fast and easy look for Day 3 :)

Love and Light,

A

LET'S KEEP IT FRESH AND GIRLY WITH THESE PRODUCTS ON DAY 3

FOR THE BASE

I APPLIED A THIN LAYER OF L'OREAL'S STUDIO SECRET PRIMER TO MINIMISE FINE LINES, PORES AND CONTROL OIL.

(TIP: THIS PRIMER CAN BE WORN JUST BY ITSELF AND A LITTLE CONCEALER AND YOU ARE SET! )
AMAZING PRODUCT FOR ITS VALUE

USING MY RING FINGER I APPLIED MAC'S STUDIO SCULPT CONCEALER ON MY UNDER EYE CIRCLES, SIDES OF THE NOSE AND MOUTH

TO GET THE FLUSHED FRESH LOOK, I APPLIED MAC'S CREME BLUSH IN UNCOMMON ON THE APPLES OF THE CHEEKS

(TIP: NOT SURE WHERE TO APPLY YOUR BLUSH? SMILE AND APPLY THE BLUSH ON THE APPLES OF YOUR CHEEKS.)

FOR THAT SUMMER GLOW I APPLIED NARS' MULTIPLES IN COPACOBANA ON MY CHEEK PLANE, BRIDGE OF THE NOSE

TO KEEP THE LOOK FRESH AND DEWY, I ONLY POWDERED THE AREAS OF MY FACE WHERE I GET OILY AND LEFT THE CHEEKS ALONE.

FOR THE BROWS AND EYES

I FILLED IN MY BROWS WITH BEN NYE BROW PENCIL TO DEFINE THE ARCH. TO MAKE THAT MY BROW LOOKS NATURAL AND NOT PENCILED IN, I APPLIED BENEFIT'S BROW ZINGS IN LIGHT WITH MY SIGMA ANGLED BRUSH.

USING MY RING FINGER I APPLIED MAC'S PAINT POT IN FRESCO ROSE ON MY LID AND WITH NARS' MULTIPLES IN COPACOBANA'S SECOND APPEARANCE, I APPLIED IT AS A HIGHLIGHT ON MY BROW BONE.

I DEFINED MY EYES FURTHER BY APPLYING MAC'S SPARE CHANGE LINER ON MY LASH BED AND LOWER LASH LINE.

WANT TO LOOK LIKE YOU SLEPT FOR MORE THAN 8 HOURS?
APPLY A WHITE EYELINER LIKE MAKE UP FOREVER'S ON YOUR WATERLINE

LASTLY AND CERTAINLY NOT THE LEAST, CURL YOUR LASHES TO OPEN UP THOSE PEEPERS AND APPLY 2 COATS OF BLACK MASCARA ON YOUR TOP AND BOTTOM LASHES.

FOR THE LIPS

GET INTO THE HABIT OF HYDRATING YOUR LIPS BY APPLYING YOUR LIP CONDITIONER JUST BEFORE YOU START APPLYING YOUR MAKE UP.

CHAPPED LIPS IS THE A SIGN OF DEHYDRATION, BTW.

I SIMPLY LINED MY LIPS WITH MAC'S OAK LIPLINER AND APPLIED LAURA MERCIER'S LIP VELVET IN NAKED ROSE.

I LOVE THE TEXTURE OF THIS LIPSTICK AND IT SMELLS AMAZING!

ET VOILA!

Hope you all have a good evening and I'll see you all later.

TO MINIMISE THE APPEARANCE OF PORES, TO KEEP THE OIL AT BAY, I USED

5 MINUTE BEAUTY DAY ONE

This week I decided to challenge myself to 'put on my corporate face' in 5 mins (or maybe 6 lol!) In a way, I would like this post to dispute the claims of some women that they just don't have the time to look 'presentable'. I find it hard to believe that even though we have access to so many beauty products and cosmetics, there are a ton of women who still manages to wow me (not in a good way, by the way) with their lack of care for their looks.

This week will be all about getting pretty, polished and presentable using minimal products and brushes (this is one of the complaints I get, by the way....'I don't have this brush and that brush.... yada yada!' Well, the next 5 looks won't require you a ton of brushes, at least 2 brushes, so NO MORE EXCUSES AND LET US GET PRETTY POLISHED IN 5 MINUTES! :)

Love and Light,

A

FACE: START WITH A CLEAN AND MOISTURISED FACE.
I ALSO MOISTURISED MY LIPS

BASE: FOR DAY 1 I DECIDED TO JUST USE MAC'S STUDIO SCULPT CONCEALER ON MY DARK CIRCLE, SIDES OF MY NOSE AND MOUTH .

USING MY RING FINGER, I APPLIED MAC'S COLOUR CREME BASE IN PEARL ON MY CHEEK PLANE AND BRIDGE OF THE NOSE.

TO ADD COLOUR TO CHEEKS, I USED A BODY SHOP'S BRONZER (IT CAME WITH ITS OWN BRUSH)

I LIGHTLY POWDERED MY FACE
(1ST BRUSH REQUIREMENT)

BROWS: IT IS IMPORTANT TO GROOM YOUR BROWS. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE THICK ONES, JUST GEL IT.

FOR MY BROWS I USED AND ANGLED BRUSH WITH BENEFIT'S BROW ZINGS IN LIGHT AND GELLED IT AFTER.

I DID NOT USE ANY EYE SHADOW FOR DAY 1'S LOOK, INSTEAD I APPLIED MAC'S TEDDY EYE LINER ON MY WATER LINE AND LASH BED AND SMUDGED INGLOT'S GOLD LINER.

I CURLED MY LASHES AND APPLIED 2 COATS OF MASCARA ON MY TOP AND BOTTOM LASHES.

I LINED MY LIPS WITH MAC'S OAK LIP LINER AND APPLIED MAC'S GLOSS IN AMPLE PINK.

ANNA THE DRILL SERGEANT

Hi Everyone! Did you all have a great weekend? I had a blast! Relived my childhood days this weekend, what I did exactly, I will share with you all on a different post.

For some reason, all the Neutral Colours that I chose to feature for a week and a half seem to have a lot of connection Men and Women in Uniform. I had Navy, Khaki and now Olive! :)

I did not want to pair my Olive military inspired shirt from Zara with the usual white or black. The top, I felt was a bit masculine and to add to its appeal, I decided to wear my dog tag that day. :) To balance the look, I decided on a bright, flower printed silk skirt. The dominant colour on my skirt, I think is Scarlet and surprisingly, Olive complements Scarlet :) I am not a big accessory person, however, since I was going hoping to 'femininise' (there is no such word) the look, I wore my snake ring.

Hope you guys had a great start to the week and that you like my take on the colour Olive.

PRODUCT REVIEW: BENEFIT HELLO FLAWLESS FOUNDATION

Hi Everyone! It has been a while since my last product review, there are in fact a lot of products that I am so excited to share with you, so stick around. :)

I am not sure if you guys are aware but I am a sucker for foundations - drugstore, department store, PRO, high def, creme, name it, I bought it! I cannot begin to tell you how important a flawless base is but I am sure that my students know that I will not make them move to the next level if I am not happy with their foundation application.

So, it comes as no surprise that my 1st Product Review after a long hiatus is a foundation. :)

Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Brightening Make Up (Whew! What a long name!) is an Oil Free Foundation with SPF 25. It comes in an industrial strength plastic bottle with a pump and for AED 149 (+/- 43 USD) you get 30 ML of amazing product.

The fact that this foundation has SPF 25 is enough for me to  buy it but when I opened it and it didn't smell of anything, I was 50 percent sold. I do not easily believe all the words that I read about a product, most especially on cosmetics. I have to try it and see for myself. This foundation claims to brighten - the word 'brighten' and its derivatives are very marketing oriented, so I was kind of prepared to get disappointed.

I only pumped out a small amount of product on my hand, dabbed it on my T-Zone and I spread it evenly on my face. I was not disappointed. Benefit's claim to 'brighten' was justified. I was impressed. However, like the Doubting Thomas that I am, I had to subject it to some tests.

Like all the other foundations that I have bought, tried and tested, Benefit's Hello Flawless had to go through the 'no retouching test' and just today Hello Flawless went through the 'I went to the gym and sweat myself out' test! lol! And it passed with flying colours! :)

Like with all my product reviews, I also try and see where the product can use some improvement, after all, we need to be objective. It is sad that the range of colours is not as extensive as other make up brands.

I used the Hello Flawless Foundation  for 3 days.  Have a look at the unretouched photos, remember my review before hitting the make up counter and should you decide to purchase this wonder, be prepared to be WOWED! :)

Love and light,
A

1st Day using Benefit's Hello Flawless Foundation.
Impressed but needs to be tested.

2nd Day was the 'no retouching till the day is over' test!
Passed with flying colours.

3rd Day was still the 'no retouching' test
and later in the day.....

The 'I went to the gym and sweat my heart out' test. hehehehe!
I am WOWED!

IN LIST IN KHAKI

I used to say this and it still holds true, "you just got to love in a man in a uniform..... coz it means he has a job!' hehehe. I think this is the reason as to why my last two posts have this army - ish tones to it. Talking about khaki is no different, however, you are not in the military, so ditch the olive green and wear something bright like Lime? There will always be the classic pairing of khaki and white but why stick to just that when you have a whole spectrum of colours to choose from? :)

So, go on, experiment with some colour and you will see your classic khaki pieces in a different light.

Love and Light and a great week ahead! :)

Khaki Trousers from G2000
Beige Peep Toe Sandals from ALDO

Unlikely Pair but it works!

IN THE NAVY

Another great Neutral is Navy Blue. Whenenever I see the colour Navy, the first thing that comes to mind is the Sea. second is the The Ivy League only 1 designer, Ralph Lauren. I could have dressed all preppy on a dress down Thursday, however, I wanted to spice up a colour that is a little synonymous to the Red, White and Blue Flag of the Americans with a touch of the Asian Magic. I paired my Navy Denim skirt with an Orange Flower Print top.

I wish you all a great weekend. Stay safe and I will see you all next week with fresh updates, outfits, make up looks and maybe some occasional gossip! lol!

SUNSHINE OVER GRAY SKIES

When you plan your wardrobe for the week with a theme in mind ( This week is Gray for me and great colours to combine it with) you realise what colour or colours that pretty much dominates your closet. I kind of know that I will hardly find any colour in my wardrobe but was kind of shocked not to find any pastels!Thankfully, I found this yellow maxi dress hiding and I decided to pair it with my Gun Metal coloured blazer.

With Yellow coming from the Warm Family and Gray from the Cool Family, I was kind of conflicted in choosing the accessories for today. In the end, I opted to wear my white gold accessories.

I just paired this ensemble with my New Look Beige Wedges and my LV Speedy Bag.

Gray will also look awesome with the usual pink, lavander and mint green.

Hope you guys try out my colour combination recommendations and let me know how it goes. :)

Love and Light,

WHITE HERE, WHITE NOW

Whatever colour the designers decide to highlight every season, you can be rest assured that White will always be around. The runways for the Spring/Summer shows were all about colour - shocking to pastels but will always be a colour synonymous to Summer.

I decided to wear my shirt dress to work the other day, this cut always makes a comeback during the hot summer months and what I love about this shirt dress from Zara (aside from lasting this long - bought it in 08) is the detailing on the waist, it makes it look so organic and very safari! :)

I wore my beige peep toe slingbacks from ALDO in keeping with the safari look and opted to skip accessorising.

What is your ultimate White go - to piece during summer? Let me know guys! :)

GRAY MATTERS

One of the things that I love about the Spring/Summer collection for 2012 is that the designers decided to highlight a colour that we only often use in daily conversation while we are going about our daily routine ie; "its either black or white, no gray areas!' Well, Gray judging from this phrase is almost synonymous to ummm... being unsure. Boy, am I glad that the backstage days of the colour Gray is over because finally, it is the Neutral colour of the season.

I posted on my FB status that this week will be an all Gray week (I will try) so I can show you the many great colour combinations that you can make.

Today, I wore my light gray pencil skirt with a cobalt blue top. :) Why don't you try out this colour combination and let me know. :)

Time for me to see Mr. Eric Northman before I head to LalaLand. :) Hope you all had a great start of the week coz I certainly did!

Love and Light,
A

THE TOP THAT I AM WEARING IS ACTUALLY A DRESS.
BLACK PUMPS FROM ALDO
YOU CAN TAKE THIS ENSEMBLE FROM THE OFFICE TO A NIGHT OUT TOO.
YOU MAY OPT TO TAKE OUT THE TUBE TOP (TRUST ME IT ISN'T TOO LOW)
INSTEAD OF THE CLASSIC PUMPS WEAR A BLACK STRAPPY STILLETO.

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE TOP.

I AM NOT A BIG FAN OF ACCESSORISING BUT THOUGHT THAT SILVER BRACELET THAT I GOT WHILE I WAS IN SPAIN WILL GO WELL WITH THE ENSEMBLE. :)

LOOK SHOWDOWN

This is the 1st time that I have ever done this but thought it was timely, 1 celebrity 2 looks. Let's see which one you like the best. :)

ADELE AT THE GRAMMY'S

This woman is simply phenomenal! I think I watched her Grammy performance more than I have watched Madonna's Elizabethan performance of Vogue in MTV Video Awards (believe me it is a lot!)

Aside from a stellar performance, Adele was stunning that evening, sporting two looks that echoed Vintage Glamour and it should come as no surprise that I am doing a look inspired her two looks at the Grammy's. This post is rather late, sorry about that.

So, roll with me in the deep and let's get this look started. :)

Love and Light,
A
THE SKIN
JUDGING FROM ADELE'S PHOTOS, SHE SEEMED TO HAVE BEEN WEARING A FULL COVERAGE FOUNDATION.
I ALSO NOTICED THAT HER CONTOURING WAS EXCEPTIONAL, HOWEVER, THERE WAS HARDLY ANY SHIMMERING HIGHLIGHT.
(YES, YOU CAN HIGHLIGHT WITHOUT THE SHIMMERING GOOD STUFF. :-))

THE FACE
I USED REVLON'S COLOR STAY FOUNDATION ALL OVER MY FACE.
IF YOU WILL NOTICE (I HOPE YOU GUYS DO AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS BLOG POST, I MADE EXTREMELY NOTICEABLE) THAT MY CHEEK PLANE IS SIGNIFICANTLY WHITER THAN THE REST OF MY FACE.
I DID THIS TO CONCEAL AND AT THE SAME TIME HIGHLIGHT THE AREAS OF MY FACE THAT NEEDED IT.
DOING THIS ALSO LIFTS THE FACE, GIVING YOU THE KIM K. LOOK.

THE BROWS AND EYES
CAN I JUST MENTION THE CHEEK PLANE AGAIN? HEHEHE. DO YOU GUYS SEE IT?
ANYWAY, DID I DIGRESS, BECAUSE I COLOURED MY HAIR RED, I USED A MEDIUM BROWN BROW PENCIL AND ELONGATED IT A BIT.
FOR THE SHADOW, I STARTED WITH URBAN DECAY'S PRIMER POTION.
THE FIRST COLOUR WHICH I PLACED ON MY LID IS AN IVORY SHADE WITH A LITTLE SHIMMER.
FOR THE CREASE COLOUR, I USED A MATTE SALMONY SHADE AND BLENDED.

THE EYES
I USED A BLACK LIQUID LINER FOR THE TOP LASH LINE.
NOW, FOR THE LOWER LASH LINE, I CONCENTRATED ON GETTING MORE COLOUR ON THE OUTER CORNERS OF THE EYE.
I LINED MY WATER LINE WITH A WHITE PENCIL.
APPLIED MY FALSE LASHES AND COATED MY BOTTOM LASHES WITH MASCARA.

THE EYES
A CLOSER LOOK

THE LIPS
I LINED MY LIPS WITH MAC'S BRICK LIP LINER AND FILLED IT IN WITH MAC'S RUBY WOO.

ADELE'S RED CARPET LOOK

ADELE'S PERFORMANCE LOOK
I USED MY URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTE 1 FOR THIS LOOK.
I APPLIED THE BLACK SHADOW ON THE OUTER V AND BLENDED.
ONCE BLENDED, I APPLIED THE DARK BLUE SHADE OVER IT AND BLENDED.

FOR ADELE'S PERFORMANCE LOOK, I KEPT THE LIPS PALE AND LET THE EYES BE THE MAIN ATTRACTION.
