ABAYA COUTURE

Founded in April 2009, Abaya Couture offers edgy and progressive Emirati couture creations to women everywhere. Women from UAE and the region have developed a close affinity to Abaya Couture, reveling in its freshness and free spirit. Taking a symbol of Arab tradition and respect and adding elements of creative innovation without compromising its basic ideals, makes Abaya Couture one of the most progressive fashion lines to come out in recent times. The label’s philosophy lies in every piece articulating simplicity, sophistication and most importantly, individuality.

Badr Al Budoor is the pseudonym of the Emirati designer who has enveloped the fashion world with her label, Abaya Couture. Having spent years living in the UK, Italy and Spain broadening her skills in all genres of art dear to her, she has since gained a reputation and unique style that can be best described as minimalist, eccentric and elegant. Badr Al Budoor’s design inspiration comes from mystical Arabia and European vogue combined. In a fascinating but exhilarating mix, she conjures up magic, combining the soulful beauty of the Arab theme with the sophisticated boldness of the Western world. The end result is a true work of art, adorning women in a cloak of pure class and couture.

“It’s always been important for me to express my designs in a way that capture the unique brilliance of my own experiences. Abaya Couture carries stories and symbolizes the beauty of multiple cultures, never compromising the integrity, instead showcasing it in a bolder and brighter way,” says Badr Al Budoor, “we all have the ability and the courage to push our own boundaries of expression and Abaya Couture is my tool to unleash the power of my own imagination”.

Similar to visiting an art gallery, feeling and experiencing Abaya Couture is a necessity, the close proximity to excellence making the connection quicker and easier. Keeping that in mind, the designer will be organizing special viewings. For interested clients residing in the UAE, collection viewings will be organized for ladies interested in getting up-close and personal with the Abaya Couture experience, before placing an order. Members will be notified of the event details in advance and will have to request attendance, as there is a limit on the number of guests hosted per Viewing.

For a brief introduction to the magical world of Badr Al Budoor, on Friday 29th April @ 7.00pm Abaya Couture will be showcasing its latest collection, live on stage at the Abu Dhabi Souk at Central Market, Traditional and Contemporary Fashion Event, presented by Aldar.

Abaya Couture only sells online to share with the world the pride and admiration felt by wearing made-to-order variations of traditional couture. Abaya Couture specifically caters to the glamour of the soiree occasion… for which each piece is a fashion statement. RED CARPET READY: THE MAKE UP

MY LOOK FOR THE WOMEN OF SUBSTANCE EVENT

Hi Everyone! I know that this is rather late, however, I am sure that you will find these tips and tricks useful on your next Red Carpet Event.

I was not able to take a Step-by-Step photo of my make up for the event, perhaps next time :)

BE A PAINTER FOR THE DAY

There is nothing more important when you want to look Red Carpet Ready that a fantastic primer. This will enable your foundation to glide on smoothly, it will give your make up the staying power that it needs and it just makes the foundation melt into your skin. :) I used L'Oreal Studio Secrets. I don't want to gush too much about the product on this post, however, you may read my review about it. :)

ACE THE BASE

When choosing the foundation for the big night, one of the things that I consider is the skin type. In my case, I used the KRYOLAN TV Paintstick because I do get oily and since its high definition, I hardly used concealer. :)

LIGHT AND SHADE

To those who have attended my workshops, they know how much I love contouring and highlighting :)

Always use a matte shade when applying contour on the hollows of your cheeks. If you use something shimery, the lights from the cameras will bounce, defeating the purpose of applying contour

To find the apples of your cheeks, simply smile. :) For the event, I opted for a pink blush, NARS Orgasm.

Apply highlight on the cheekplane and sweep it up towards the hairline. I do apply highlight on the bridge of the nose but I skip the tip coz it will look very shiny and oily in photos. Since I decided on wearing a Red Lipsting for the event, I also highlighted my cupid's bow. I used Chez Chez Lame from MAC.

LIP SERVICE

Hydrated Lips is important when you want to look polished, so apply lip balm before you start applying your make up. This will give the lip balm time to be absorbed by your lips. Whether you are wearing a light toned lipstick or a dark toned lipstick, lining it is soo important. Aside from giving your lipstick the staying power that it needs, it defines your lips :) I used MAC's Brick Lip Liner and MAC's Ruby Woo Lipstick.

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL

Carry a small mirror with you so you can inspect your make up closely. There is nothing worse that seeing an unblended foundation.

And Lastly, Smile :)

BEST DRESSED MAN OF THE NIGHT: BANDOIX FLORES AND YOURS TRULY.

Last weekend we attended the 4th Year of Illustrado Magazine's Women of Subtance event at the Godolphin Ballroom of the Emirates Towers.

I am thankful to the Illustrado team for asking me to be part of the documentary entitled, 'Women on Top.' Its a 25 min film by Kamil Roxas which touches a rather sensitive topic, Women, Our Sexuality, Unwanted Pregnancies, Sexual Harrasment and more issues that we, Empowered Women should know.

I would like to commend the Illustrado Magazine Team for staging another successful event and I am looking forward to more fabulous event next year.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the Stylemonger for my nomination as the Best Dressed Woman and the Impalpable Michael Cinco for his vote of confidence. Many thanks to Liali Jewelry for the chic bracelet :)

This gathering is simply not about wearing your fab garb (though it was so nice to see everyone looking sharp that night). Its about empowering Women, most especially the Filipinas, who are most of the time placed in boxes that are just downright demeaning.

May this event give, not only Filipinas but all the women out there the confidence to break free from the stereotype and show the world that WE ARE ON TOP!

RED CARPET READY: FACE & BODY

HEHEHE. ME WITH THE GENTLE CREAM EXFOLIANT

FOR WOMEN WHO SUDDENLY FINDS A ZIT THE NIGHT BEFORE A BIG EVENT, APPLY A THIN LAYER OF THE OVERNIGHT CLEARING GET ET VOILA! BLEMISH IS GONE :)

THIS LAVANDER SCENTED TONER FROM DERMALOGICA EQUALISES THE PH OF THE SKIN. FOR ME, PERSONALLY, THIS TONER CALMS MY SENSITIVE SKIN, THEREFORE, NOT MAKING IT PRONE TO BREAK OUTS.

ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT I APPLIED DERMALOGICA'S GENTLE CREAM EXFOLIANT TO REMOVE DULLING DEAD SKIN CELLS. THIS CLEANSES MY SKIN MAKING IT READY FOR MAKE UP.

MILK AND SALT SCRUB SLOUGHS AWAY DEAD SKIN CELLS

There is nothing more beautiful than glowing, healthy skin on the red carpet. Here are a few tips, which I have tried to help you look your best on that big event.

2 Months Before

If your skin is starting to have a mind of its own, start a serious skin care regimen that will nurse it back to its original glory. In my case, I had to switch to milder products as I found my skin getting too sensitive and prone to breaking out.

2 to 3 Days Before

One of the main ingredients of the Gentle Exfoliating Cream is Lactic Acid. I think that I explained its purpose when I posted Breaking Out. A less expensive alternative is Yogurt. Try the Greek Plain Yogurt. Apply it on your face and leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse with luke warm water.

On The Day of the Event

I normally do my milk/salt scrub on the day of any special events that I attend. Word of caution though, too much exfoliation will leave your skin dry. What I do is I use Cocoa Butter Lotion from Vaseline all over my body. (Smells Yummy) and for the heels of the feet and my hands I use Glycerin Cream.

With glowing, healthy, sexy skin, you can bare your shoulders or your back and in my case my legs :)

RED CARPET READY: YOUR CROWNING GLORY

MY HAIR MASK FROM BOOTS MADE ESPECIALLY FOR BRUNETTES

Your crowning glory deserves attention whether your putting it up or letting it loose. Here are some tips to ensure your crowning glory sparkles on the red carpet.

One Week Before
* If you are thinking of having your hair coloured, one week before you step into the red carpet will be just fine. This will give the colour enough time to set. If you decide to colour at home, please do a strand test. You don't want unwanted surprises that may not be remedied. If you find that the colour is way to dark than your expectations, combine 1 Cup baby shampoo with 2 tablespoons baking soda. Apply it on your hair and leave it on for 5 minutes.

One Day Before
* If you are thinking of leaving your hair down and you want it to shine like Jennifer Aniston's luscious locks, rinse your hair with this solution: combine distilled Vinegar (HEINZ is a good brand) with 1 Cup Chilled Water and a few drops of Lavender Oil (to combat the smell). This solution will close the hair's cuticle making your hair shine like never before.

* This is what I did since I have decided to put my hair up. I just deep conditioned my hair with Boots Hair Mask made especially for Brunettes. I left it on for a good 15 minutes and then shampooed and allowed my hair to air dry. :)
