START WITH WET HAIR, NO OTHER STYLING PRODUCTS

As a Hair and Make Up Artist, I am always on the lookout for new products which can produce maximum results in minimum time. Recently back from a 3 day wedding in Thailand where I had 2 functions per day which meant I had to do 6 hair and 6 make up looks in 3 days, the bride’s hair certainly needed the time off from styling products and tools. My trusty hair dryer and other tools did their magic but I felt. that it was high time that I look for additional Hair Helpers.

So, to my delight when I received the Braun Satin Hair Airstyler last week. J Many thanks to Impact Porter Novelli for the wonderful product.

The Airstyler is about 30 cm long and comes in black with 2 styling attachments, the round brush and the comb attachment. This product is already available in the market for AED 244 or USD 66 +/-

So, what exactly does this Airstyler do? Most importantly, what is IONTEC? When you purchase the product the manual pretty much explains what it can do. So this post is not about telling you that the round brush can curl and the comb can straighten. This is more about testing it out and finding out whether the product’s claims are true or not.

Upon seeing the product, I thought that it was not ergonomically designed, that women with small hands might not be able to handle the tool well, but since I was able to handle it with ease, and my hands are pretty small, I believe that the design of the handle should not be a problem. The Airstyler is not exactly portable and compact, however, if you are looking for a tool which eliminates having to pack a bulky dryer and a straightener, then this product is for you. This means when you travel, there is extra room for clothes or shoes or presents. J or more shoes. J

The 1st function of the AirStyler that I wanted to test was the hair dryer function. Two points to consider: 1. How fast did it dry my hair. 2. Did my hair look healthy afterwards?

Results: 8 minutes with a flip, there were slight waves on the crown area but not a big deal. My hair looked and felt silky.

Since the attachment that I used for this experiment was the round brush, I felt that the air was distributed evenly unlike when you use a hair dryer where the nozzle is directly on your hair. The even distribution of heat when using any other hair dryer only happens when you have diffuser which not a lot of women have.

The silky look is not just a look. It certainly felt as smooth as as silk because of this technology called IONTEC.

IONTEC is the process of attracting moisture particles from the air during styling to replenish the natural moisture content, thus preventing hair damage commonly experienced from using any other hair dryer.
Now that Valentines is fast approaching allow me and Braun to give you ideas for the fab date with your special someone or hanging out with your girlfriends or simply to just celebrate yourself :)

NYX BRONZE GODDESS MAKE UP PALETTE
NYX Products.... Where have you been all my life?!!! I can't believe that I have over looked products from another affordable yet fantastic brand for so long! I guess the saying, "Ignorance is bliss" does not apply to this particular situation. I'd like to thank my Co-Bloggers Alessia D. and Tracy Ley for introducing me to the wonderful world of NYX Products
I purchased the Glitter Palette from NYX before but NYX Bronze Goddess Box is my first 'actual make up' purchase from them and definitely won't be my last.
Who would have thought that a box this small can contain 9 shimmer shadows which mimics the colours of the setting sun during a beautiful summer day, 3 glitter shadows, 6 blushers which you can use for contour and highlight as well as 5 glosses which ranges from light pink to coral to a beautiful nude and caramel? This Palette makes re creating the beautiful bronze glow that J. Lo is so famous for easy and without the extra ka-ching! :)
The 1st stack contains all the shadows and though they are not round but rectangular, I had no difficulty in dipping my MAC 239 Brush as well as the flat shader brush from INGLOT. Being a Bronze Goddess Palette, NYX did not include any Matte shades in the selection of shadows rather kept the shadow selection to shimmers, which is a great idea because is mimics the reflection of the sun on the water (do I sound poetic or what?!) The shadows give you a lot of colour without having to dip your brushes in the product several times. Very pigmented in short. Translation? The product will last longer.
The second stack contains 3 blushers on the left and 3 blushers on the right.
The left selection has this blusher which is kind of a matte soft brown which can be used for contouring, the one on the bottom can be used for highligh and the middle one can used as the blusher. The blush selection on the right does not have a matte shade.
The middle blushers are big enough to accommodate blusher brushes but the top and bottom one are rather small. What I did was I dipped the upper half of my blusher brush on the blush and applied in on the apples of my cheeks sweeping upward, all the way to the hairline.
There are 5 shimmer almost frosted shades of glosses in the Palette but I was able to use 2 of them at the moment. They feel like gloss but certainly looks more like lipstick when applied.
What i wished this palette had are lipliners. Probably instead of putting in those small blusher brushes, they could have included 2 lipliners.
This Palette at AED 119 (USD 32 +/-) is more that just a good buy and is perfect for Spring/Summer, for women who love the Natural look and would like to update it a bit with a littler shimmer here and there. :)

PRODUCT REVIEW: REVLON PHOTOREADY

RIMMEL GLAM EYES MASCARA
BRONZE GODDESS BLUSHER
SPICE LIP LINER WITH NYX NEUTRAL LIP GLOSS PALETTE

A CLOSER LOOK AT GLOW THE FOUNDATION GIVES

JUST FOUNDATION, NO CONCEALER

THE BLANK CANVASS

REVLON PHOTOREADY. MY GLOW MAKER

When it comes to Make Up, the most commonly asked question I get is probably, ’How can I get flawless, glowing skin with make up?’ I think I may have found the solution to a lot of women’s questions without breaking the bank. The promise of airbrushed skin under any light is what Revlon’s PhotoReady Foundation is all about. Again, at less than AED 120 (USD), this 30ml Glow Maker Foundation with SPF 20 should secure a spot in(on?) your Vanity Table.

Though it comes in a larger bottle than ColorStay and it comes with a pump, the many positive qualities of this product out weigh its packaging minuses.

I pumped a small amount on my hand and used Sigma’s Stipling brush to apply the foundation on my forehead, a little on my cheeks and my chin. I blended the foundation using a circular motion and the result was a glowing base. It has a hint of shine as you can see in the 1st photo, which is just the foundation, no concealer, no powder, no highlighter. Though it says that it’s oil free, I find the foundation rich enough for women who have dry skin. To achieve the Glowing look, skip the powder. For women who have oily skin, set with a loose powder.

Unlike Color Stay, PhotoReady is Fragrance Free, which is a plus for women who have sensitive skin.

For women who are used to a Full Coverage Foundation, they might find PhotoReady too light for their liking. Though it does provide great coverage, it might take a while before they get used to it. Because of the hint of shine that I noticed after applying the foundation, I thought that I would be oily by mid-day, but I was pleasantly surprised.

To sum it up, PhotoReady is a great foundation for everyday use. Rest assured that you will look great in the office, at the park, at a dinner date, or in a club. After all, it promises airbrushed skin under any light. :)

PRODUCT REVIEW: REVLON COLORSTAY

2nd DAY WITH COLORSTAY.

1ST DAY WITH COLORSTAY. NO POWDER AND NO CONCEALER.

REVLON COLORSTAY

When Revlon thought about the name of this product, they really meant business as this really is ColorStay and more.

At lest than AED 120 (USD 32+/-) for a 30ML Full Coverage Foundation, ColorStay from Revlon gives you more bang for your buck!

Lets get down to the basics. ColorStay comes in a sleek bottle, which can fit in a small to medium size vanity kit. The bottle does not come with a pump which is great because you can get all the product out. It stays on for 16 hours (a good alternative to Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation), has SPF 6 and I believe has 23 shades to choose from. By now, you already know what I do to to test the staying power of foundations. I did not retouch the whole day just to see it it stays flawless and it did. It claims to be trasnfer resistant, so I did my Kleenex test. Very little transferred to the Kleenex. It does have a little scent which is almost medicinal but dont this sway you from owning this product.

ColorStay being a full coverage foundation is best for women who have oily skin but dry skinnes women can also benefit from this product's amazing coverage and staying power by moisturising really well.

When applying full coverage foundation I normally just use my fingers as using a foundation brush makes the base look more opaque, which is not required when you use this foundation. One word of caution though, when you apply ColorStay, make sure to blend immediately as it has a tendency to set on your skin rather fast which may result to hard time in blending.

I recommend this product to women who are always on the go, who hardly have time to retouch, those who have some minor scars from pimples/blemishes because it provides the right amount of coverage.

I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised with Revlon ColorStay and this is definitely going to be a mainstay in my MUA Kit!
