GREAT DATE LOOKS - LUNCH AL FRESCO

White Single Breasted Coat: G2000
White Tube Top: MANGO
Skinnies: Dragon Mart
Pearl Choker: New Look
Animal Print Clutch: New Look
Animal Print Sling Backs: ALDO
Animal Prints will always sexify any outfit but for a lunch al fresco small elements will do.
Add a black coat for the chilly weather.
Don't know about you but there is something so Lily Bass about this outfit.

Black Single Breasted Coat: G2000
Satin top: MANGO
Skinnies: Dragon Mart
Open Toed Sandals: ALDO
Bag: Louis Vuitton
Colour of the season... atleast for me.
Jeans for me are very feminine especially if they are skinnies but this top makes the ensemble look even girlier. :)

I look forward to Thursdays not only because it signals the weekend but also because it is dress down Thursday. I can finally wear jeans. But this Thursday was speacial because instead of just putting something together I thought of another great date look..... Lunch Al Fresco. It would have been easy to just grab a sundress but then again Lunch Al Fresco and sundress seemed like the ideal pairing so I decided on jeans and some ultra girl touches. :)
fo
Keep the look simple and fresh. I skipped foundation but kept the concealer and Benetint. Prevent oil with Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. I also did not define my brows but I kept it in place with a brow gel. I used Flirt by Smashbox for the entire eye and applied a single coat of mascara. Lastly, I applied Nars Dolce Vita lipstick.

Military Inspired Jacket from Splash and Stilletos from Milktrails Online Shopping

The love month is upon us and I am excited!!!!! I am so thrilled by the thought that women will be out there buying themselves fab outfits and shoes for their dates. Don’t get me wrong, it does not have to be with a guy, it can be with your friends or just buy the outfit because you know you deserve it.

While I was dressing up this morning I thought why not do some posts of great date looks – outfits and make up looks that you can try on for a myriad of dates that you ladies will not only have this February but the entire year.

We start this series with a look for a Girl Next Door who may grab a bite in a bistro, watch a late screening of a movie and just chill.

The make up is kept to a minimum mainly using pink shades to make the girl next door looking fresh.

For ladies who want to chill this valentine’s day here are some tips to keep you looking gorgeous.
  1. Skip the Foundation. Instead use a foundation faker. One to try will be Benefit’s Some Kind of Gorgeous and don’t forget to conceal. With tired peepers, your date might want to take you home.
  2. Add some illuminator to make you look like you are glowing. Makes you look like you had 8 hours of zzzzzzz.
  3. Opt for blushing products which warms up naturally to the face like Smashbox' O Glow and O Bronze.
  4. Open up your eyes by curling your lashes and applying mascara.
  5. There is something about light pink eyeshadow that makes it soooo girl.

DENIM ME THIS, DENIM ME THAT.

As we end the first month of 2010 and get ready for the month of love... did you know that aside from celebrating Valentines Day we are also celebrating the World Marriage Day on the 8th of Feb? J February, my birthday month is indeed the month of love. But did I digress.. Where was I again? Oh, now I remember, somehow the end of January means the end of Winter already and some of us like myself have started to look into their closets to see what we already have to wear with the key pieces for Spring and Summer.

The shows in Milan particularly of Dolce and Gabbana featured quite a lot of denim and what better way to pay tribute to this ever reliable piece of fabric than to feature them in every way possible: shirt, vest, dyed, distressed, acid washed. Name it, they have done it.

So, to kind of usher in Spring or maybe I was just tired of wearing too much blacks, I broke in my denim vest ( flea market find) last weekend for a relaxing day at the mall. Since the Denim vest hugs the body moderately I decided to pair it with a long gypsy skirt to give it THAT weekend feel.

DIET, ANYONE?

I will go on a diet. Ever made this resolution? I have and quite a few times. hehehe. This year though I have decided not to make any resolutions but for the benefit of those people who have made losing weight as one of their resolutions here are some information on some of the diets that have come and go.

THE ATKINS DIET
I was one of those people who bought the book but never had the chance to go past Chapter 2. Once I found out the 'allowable foods ' I stopped reading and started doing the grocery. I was actually delighted to find out that turket bacon was allowed, so is mayo but not ketchup.

The first day was tolerable. I had fresh greens, some low fat cheese, hard boiled eggs and low fat dressing. Second day was a hamburger patty cooked in Olive oil. Third day was shrimps cooked in Olive oil and garlic.

I actually found this diet quite easy, atleast for the first 5 days but come the 6th day I started craving for pasta, bread and worst, I was getting quite irritable.

PROS
* Initial weight loss is fast! We are talking 14 lbs to a lot of people who have tried this diet.
* If you are not a vegetable eater, this diet will make you eat some greens, which is good not only to your body but your skin will love you for it! :)

CONS
* After your rapid weight loss, losing more may take some time.
* Totally eliminating carbohydrates can cause you to become irritable and some people said that it has caused their breath o smell a little off. :(

THE SOUTH BEACH DIET
Again, I have tried this and actually lost 4 kilos but come the second week, I again succumbed to a plate of pasta. Cant help it! This diet has the same principle as the Atkins diet but a little less strict. I was allowed to eat nuts (in moderation), which is great! I was allowed 20 pcs pistachios, some almonds.

A lot of movie stars swear by this diet, which if my memory serves me right has a phase of allowing the good carbohydrates to make a comeback. Again, though I am not sure, you are to allow one good carbohydrate back in your life.... for good like you can have pasta but never bread, rice or vice versa.

THE CABBAGE SOUP DIET
I remember this diet being passed in the Chairmans's Office while I was in Manila and it involves an actual cabbage soup and combining it with one kind of food each day. This diet lasts for about a week but be careful as you might actually lose just water and not fat. And you know when this happens.... you gain it all back.

THE 6 O' CLOCK DIET
When I was back home this diet rocked Manila and was pioneered by an ex swimmer who later became a celebrity. Its simple. No eating after 6pm. She says that you can eat anything but you have to stop as soon as the clock strikes 6pm. Alright, maybe soups are okay.

I am honestly on this diet but I dont call it as such. I call it a lifestyle already. Though I do not totally agree with eating everything in sight before 6 pm.

I feel lighter and it actually encourages me to sleep early... with an exception of tonight. :)

Whatever diet you intend on applying here are some more tips to a healthier you this 2010. :)
1. Be realistic
Dont go on a diet and tell yourself that you will lose 10 kgs in 1 month. Slowly but surely. Keep in mind that when you crash diet you will most likely gain all the weight that you have lost or worse.... even more. Aside from this crash dieting gives bad skin.

2. Excersise
Diet and Excercise....is like Dolce and Gabbana. They can never be without one another.

3. Hydrate
Dieting or not dieting, its best to keep yourself hydrated. It flushes out toxins.

4. BYOF - Bring Your Own Food
Means preparing them yourself. This way you know exactly what goes inside your body.

5. The Trinity aka Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Eat like a King during breakfast but avoid anything that is too sugary. This will give you an ultimate high but its crash and burn after that. Why not opt for coffee (yes, up to 2 cups is good for you) and some whole meal bread.

Moderate Lunch and a light dinner.

There are hordes of diets out there and I certainly hope that you chose the right one for you and stick to it and eventually make healthy eating your lifestyle :)

NO MORE SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET

CABINET FOUR: All Coats on one side, long dresses together. I bought this hanger from IKEA that can hold 5 or more pairs of jeans. I placed all pashminas in hangers but grouped them again according to colour . Make sure that you keep the dust bags of your bags so that they will always look great. Stuff them with newspaper so that they will not lose its shape.

CABINET THREE: Clutches

CABINET THREE: Clutches

CABINET THREE: Since I cannot hang all my dresses, I decided to fold and just group them together.

Easy to find but the downside is the that they will crease. So,with this new arrangement, I dont need to iron the dresses immediately, just on a need to basis.

CABINET TWO: I know I will always find a top in this cabinet.

CABINET TWO: Hanged all Long Sleeves and Tops that cannot be holded.

CABINET TWO: The small compartment in cabinet 2 holds all swimwear.

CABINET TWO: Coloured belts, cummerbands etc.

CABINET TWO: Brown belts together.

CABINET TWO: thicker belts to corset belts.

CABINET TWO: I arranged all my belts into hangers and grouped them by colour. First hanger holds all black belts from thin to medium.

CABINET ONE: The top holds toiletries which I also grouped. Lotions together, brozing items together, hair items, face items and perfumes.

CABINET ONE: The top most compartment holds my daily jewelry and the last thing that I grab before I live the house.... MY KEYS.

CABINET ONE: Since my goal is to find things easily especially in the morning, grouped items that I need to my hair and touch ups in this compartment. My lint remover is something that I can't live without.

CABINET ONE: All about legs and feet and some gloves.
The next compartment holds knickers and slips and inner shirts, tubes.

CABINET ONE: (too personal) Arrange your lingerie together.

CABINET ONE: This cabinet has 6 compartments
When organising your bras, it is best to arrange it this way. It prevents the cups from getting de
formed.
Last weekend as Mariyah and I wrapped up a shoot, we found ourselves obsessing about how we can FINALLY fix our closet and I decided that this weekend will be just that.... ORGANISE.

I think that limited closet space is a perenial problem for women but most especially for women in Dubai where sales are everywhere and a trip to the mall will guarantee a shopping bag or 2! hehehe.

So, when I woke up yesterday I surveyed the situtation and here is the 411.
1. 4 closets
2. little space to hang dresses in
3. belts, scarves (extras in the closet)

Some Extra Tips on Organising

1. Your Closet, Your Haven
Since our closets holds most of the items that we love the most, why not personalise it? If you have a walk in ( lucky you! ) fresh flowers will not hurt, great lighting, post some photos.

2. Establish a Mood Board
Why not establish a mood board every season? Cut our photos of your favourite looks or items for the season. This way you can look thru your closet and see if you already have them. This prevents you from shopping and it will teach you how to maximise the pieces in your wardrobe.

3. Choose One Type of Hanger
Different types of hangers take up so much space as I have learned aside from this it causes visual clutter.

4. Re Group
To find things easier, group your clothes. One cabinet of mine only holds all tops.

WITH A MAC 217 BRUSH, APPLY A GOLD SHIMMERY SHADE ON THE CREASE.

USING THE SAME MAC 239 BRUSH APPLY A SLIGHTLY DARKER TAUPE ON THE OUTER V AND BLEND.

USING YOUR RING FINGER APPLY MAC PAINT POT IN INDIAN WOOD ON THE REMAINING HALF OF YOUR EYE.

SET YOUR BROWS

I WANTED THE SKIN TO MAINTAIN ITS LUMINOUSITY, THUS SANS POWDER.

FOR THE BASE: MAC SELECT SPF FOUNDATION WITH A MAC 190 BRUSH, SABAYA SKIN GLOW WITHA A PRESTIGE BRUSH AND MAC STUDIO SCULPT CONCEALER WITH A MAC 192.

NOTICE THAT THERE IS NO POWDER. I WENT POWDER FREE WITH THIS LOOK.

THE INSPIRATION

Just what exactly is a Gucci Girl? She is strong, uninhibited (puple n*p*l"s) during the shows, she is intelligent, not exactly gorgeous, more like oozing with sex appeal. (I think there is a difference) She has a penetrating gaze and her strides are long and sure. She wears the clothes and not the other way around.

The idea of this look is to make it look like you partied all night and slept with your make up on (dont recommend this though. :)) The smudgier, the better.
