There is so much going on this merry month of September! Fashion's Night Out and the unveiling of Swarovski Crystals' 22 Ways to Say Black.
Swarovski Crystal under the patronage of France's uber chic First Lady, Carla Bruni Sarkozy commissioned 22 of fashion's most notable names to design one-of-a-kind little black dresses. These dresses will be auctioned off by Simon de Pury on the 20th of September at the Phillips de Pury and Company in New York City. One Hundred per cent of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society and La Ligue Nationale Contre le Cancer in France.
From September 7 to 20, visitors to the New York Meat Packing District can catch a glimpse of the designs of Giorgio Armani, Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy, Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel, and Vivienne Westwood to name a few.
A cocktail party hosted by Nadja Swarovski will culminate the event of the evening of the 20th of September.
22 Ways to Say Black has an accompanying catalogue, which is available on Amazon.com.
Now, this is Fashion for a Cause and With a Cause.
THE CAMPAIGN FOR THE JUAREZ COLLECTION IN COLLABORATION WITH RODARTE.
Several years ago, I watched a film which starred Jennifer Lopez entitled Bordertown. It was about numerous unsolved cases of violence/murder against women who worked for a lot of factories in the US/Mexico border.
It was disturbing and for a someone who is trying her best to champion Women's rights, though in her small way, I felt kind of hopeless seeing these women work for less than minimum wage.
Imagine my horror when MAC and Rodarte came out with a collection based on the town of Juarez where these cases happened.
To add insult to injury, MAC used a pale, thin ghostly looking model for the campaign and used politically incorrect names for the shades like Ghost Town and Factory.
MAC was quick to react to this furor by saying that they will not ship the cosmetics and that they will donate the proceeds to the families of the victims. I am not sure if this is their way of generating more publicity as MAC always tries to push the envelope when it comes to their collections.
Some people say that MAC has helped by shedding light to the situation but they did it in the expense of the people of Juarez. This just my personal opinion.
I don't have anything against MAC. I love the products but using the misery of a town that is still grieving is just really out of order.
FNO IN VOGUE'S SEPTEMBER ISSUE 2009 BY PATRICK DEMARCHELIER
IMAGINE MEETING SOME OF THE SUPERS????
ANNA WINTOUR IN FNO'S 2009 SHIRT
September is the month to be jolly! Why is that? Aside from the change in the season, every September, New York City holds the biggest Fashion Party ever! Pardon my lack of research but everything that you are about to read is really just based on stock knowledge.
I believe that Fashion's Night Out was the brainchild of Anna Wintour as a way to help the fashion industry when recession started. It's held every 10th of September and retailers from Brooklyn to Manhattan open their doors to shopper till midnight, if I am not mistaken and offer discounts! :)
They also produce Fashion's Night Out Shirts. Last year, the Supers were photographed by legendary lensman, Patrick Demarchelier sporting the shirts. I am not so sure if it was in Times Square. Got to check my September Issue 2009.
Log on to www.fashionsnightout.com and plan your itinerary for a Night Out of a Lifetime!
AN IDEA FOR THE MINIMALIST TREND. MORE TO COME IN FUTURE POSTS.
I USED BOBBI BROWNS POT ROUGE FOR THE LIPS AND LINED MINE WITH MAC'S SPICE LIP LINER.
I ALSO USED A MATTE WHITE E/S FROM THE SAME SMASH BOX PALETTE FOR MY BROW BONE.
APPLY ONE COAT OF RIMMEL GLAM EYES MASCARA OF THE UPPER AND LOWER LASHES. COMB THROUGH AND REAPPLY.
I USED A MATTE BROWN SHADE FROM MY BEAUTY A GO GO PALETTE FROM SMASH BOX TO CONTOUR THE CREASE.
I USED MAC'S PIGMENT IN FOOL'S GOLD ALL OVER MY LIDS WITH A MAC 239 BRUSH.
FOR THIS LOOK, I MADE MY BROWS FULLER.
JUST TO SHOW YOU THE EFFECT OF THE ILLUMINATOR AND THE HIGHLIGHTING POWDER.
EXCUSE THE BATTERIES IN MY HAIR BUT WAS ALSO PREPARING FOR HUNNY'S RETURN, THUS THE VELCRO ROLLERS. HEHEHE
START WITH AN AMAZING BASE. FOR A LOOK THAT IS THIS MINIMAL, HAVING A GREAT BASE IS IMPORTANT.I WANTED IT TO LOOK EXTREMELY NATURAL. I USED INGLOT'S AMC FOUNDATION.
I APPLIED INGLOT'S ILLUMINATOR ON THE PLANES OF MY CHEEKS, BRIDGE OF MY NOSE. TO SET MY FACE WITH INGLOT'S AMC POWDER.
TO FURTHER ENHANCE THE GLOW, I APPLIED INGLOT'S AMC HIGHLIGHTING POWDER ON THE AREAS WHERE I APPLIED THE ILLUMINATOR.
Minimalism and Gold are two of the fashion trends that I will certainly follow this coming season. However, aside from clothes, it has also inspired me to create a look to wear with this fashion trend.
MAKE SURE TO BLEND THE CONCEALER PROPERLY ET VOILA, YOU HAVE FULLER BROWS! :)
TO FURTHER EMPHASISE THE SHAPE OF YOUR BROWS, OUTLINE ITS SHAPE WITH A CONCEALER THAT IS A SHADE LIGHTER.
IN L.A. THEY HAVE THIS PROCEDURE CALLED BITCH BROWS. HEHEHE. APPARENTLY, THIS IS HOW A LOT OF L.A. MAKE UP ARTISTS RE CREATE KIM K.'S AMAZING BROWS.I FOLLOWED THE SAME PROCEDURE BUT I SKIPPED DIPPING MY ANGLED BRUSH IN WATER.WITH MY ANGLED BRUSH, I USED BENEFIT'S BROW ZINGS IN MEDIUM TO OUTLINE THE SHAPE OF MY BROWS. AND THEN I USED BENEFIT'S BROW ZINGS IN LIGHT TO FILL IT IN. MAKE SURE TO BLEND.
I USED BODY SHOP'S BROW PENCIL, WHICH IS A SHADE LIGHTER THAN MY HAIR TO CREATE THE ARCH. I BASICALLY DREW ON AN ARCH BY LIGHTLY FILLING THE BALD SPOT.
START BY COMBING YOUR BROWS UPWARDWITH A BROW COMB. MY LEFT BROW HAS AN ARCH BUT MY RIGHT BROW HAS A SEMI WONKY ARCH. THIS IS WHAT WE WILL WORK ON.
One of the beauty trends for Autumn/Winter 2010 is the strong brow. Eversince I can remember my sister and I have always been obsessed with the perfect brow. At 13 or 14 I was plucking my classmate's brows in the stone tables of St. Scho! hahaha. My sister and I were also trying to figure out how Kevyn made Linda's brows look lighter. At 14 and not knowing the existence of Jolen facial hair bleach.... this was just magic!
This is kind of a step by step post on how I do my brows.
After completing my course in IED and probably because I visited the Duomo almost on a daily basis, I became more fascinated by religion. Being a devout Catholic, I knew about Genesis, the Gospels, Revelation, Psalms and Proverbs but what intrigued me the most is the 7 capital sins, the darkness, the eroticism and twisted nature involved in each of these sins.
I have since wanted to interpret them through make up, and was constantly thinking of what colours does each sin represent.
I did not want to make the Make Up pretty or wearable, so, I hope you don't mind the disturbing nature of the photographs.

I have yet to meet a woman who does not have a love affair with shoes. I am a certified shoe lover. This is actually the first thing I look at in a man! hahaha. They have got to wear nice, polished shoes. No, I am not going to feature a massive shoe collection because first and foremost, mine is not. I would say that they are okay. I just want to feature some of the details on some of the shoes that I have which made me purchase them :)
