Last Friday, on my way to a shoot, I decided to pass by Mc Donalds to grab some breakfast and whilst I was waiting for my Sausage Mc Muffin I asked the supervisor her opinion on the controversial movie, 'Super Size Me.'

She said that McDonalds is very transparent about the ingredients that they use. McDonalds UAE in particular states that they serve 100% pure and Halal beef and chicken and that the fries are cooked using 100% vegetable oil without any fats or additives.

McDonalds also states that their meals are rich with nutritional elements which are essential to the body.

One of the things that the supervisor told me which I am earger to try is that McDonalds has something like an open day to all its patrons where they can actually tour the kitchen to see how their meals are made. Personally, I think is a great idea. I would like to know how they make the McArabia!!!! Yummmmmyy!!!.

Eventhough both above mentioned points seem healthy, you cant help but wonder why Fast Food is stil referred to as Junk Food when a burger has beef, which is a good source of protein, its has green leafy vegetables as they use lettuce and carbohydrates in the bun?

Why do we equate gaining weight to eating junk food such as burger and fries? hmmmmm

Lets have a look at some of McDonalds favourites and see how much we need to devote on the treadmill to shed it all off..... only to eat it once again during the weekend :)

I dont know about you but I cannot help an occassional trip to McDonalds, so, how do you actually make a McDoanlds meal seem healthier?

The following points are just from me, not from a dietician, so, take it with a grain of salt.

1. Try eating your burger with just one bun instead of the whole lot.

2. Gather your fries in a tissue paper to absorb the excess oil.

3. When ordering the salad, skip the croutons and have the dressing on the side.

4. I find the Apple Pie a bit oily so dabbing it with tissue may help a bit.

By the way, McDonalds is holding the Olympic Day Run on Friday, 19th Feb 2010.
