SUGAR AND SPICE

FACE THE COLD MONTHS IN TOUGH CHICK MEETS LADY OF THE MANOR FASHION

STEP OUT IN STYLE WITH THESE LACY STOCKINGS
Nothing screams Winter better than a pair of black opaque tights and boots and with reference to my earlier post of 'Winterising' some of your summer outfits, I decided once again to wear one of my short summer dresses 'Winterised' by a pair of lace stockings, boots and a leather jacket.

I love combining something girly with something manly as what I did in the great transition (lacey white summer dress with black oxfords.) and this ensemble is no different. I feel that it makes the look very interesting. Mixing opposite elements in styling can produce great results.

Maybe next time you can sweeten a very manly suit by wearing a lace bustier underneath, a double breasted coat cinced by a corset belt. The combination is endless :)

NAUTICAL BY NATURE

RELAX MODE

READY TO HEAD TO THE IMAGINARY YACHT. HEHEHE

STRIPED OUT

I love vertical stripes for the very obvious reason that I need to look taller. But aside from the wonderful optical illusion that it gives, wearing vertical stripes, most especially in blue reminds me so much of being aboard a big ship and staring out into the vast sea. Which by the way is my favourite form of relaxation (sans the ship. hehehehe.)

Though Spring/Summer may still be far, I kind of felt that this will be appropriate for seasons which are mostly spent by the sea, So, why dont you look into your closet and bring out the sailor in you. :)

THAT ADRIANA LIMA GLOW

I HOPE YOU SEE THE GLOW. HEHEHE

KEEP YOUR BASE DEWY BY USING POWDER PRODUCTS SPARINGLY

GO FOR GOLD FOR THE EYES
A MUST TRY IT COLOSSAL MASCARA BY MAYBELLINE. I USED IT FOR THIS LOOK SANS EYELASH CURLER

Let me start this post by saying that I absolutely adore this woman!!!! She is not only DROP DEAD GORGEOUS but she is one INTELLIGENT BEAUTY!!!!

One of the things that catapulted Adriana to her supermodel status is her signature enviable glow, which has so much to do with having beautiful skin but for mere mortals like us, we can always fake it.

Like what I said, Adriana's look has so much to do with the skin, so before you start your make up, make sure that your skin in absolutely clean and moisturised. Dont neglect your lips as Adriana's lips are very supple looking as well.

Pick colours which are naturally found in your face like beige, cream, brown (in different degrees), bronze even gold. Incidentally, these colours are great for blue eyed belles like Ms. Lima.

For the base I decided to use creme blush to maintain its dewy look and used powder products sparingly.

For lips, I kept it light and creamy in texture
MAKE UP USED: FACE
Eyeko Tinted Cream - I used this as my primer (Thanks Dana. Love this product)

*I did not use a powder all over the face for this look as I wanted to maintain the dewy look. Instead, I just powdered where I normally get oily.

MY ULTIMATE PASSION

Being a Make Up Artist and Stylist, I get absolutely thrilled when a Make Up company releases a new look, product or when a designer stirs things up by launching a new trend and everybody just gets hooked. I can apply make up on 5 people without rest or style a shoot at 5am without complaining because these two things are my passions in life.

But my ultimate passion in life is a little girl named Allysa Isabel Victoria, Pie or Dot, in short my daughter.

Unliker her dear old mom, Allysa is my exact opposite. Favouring jeans, shirts and converse to frilly dresses and cute sandals, which makes me love her even more. At 9 years old, I believe Allysa already has idea of her own unique personal style. Totally devoid of Mama's, which I think is just great.

In my opinion, I can call it Casual Chic. Allysa may be in her jeans, shirt and cons but she has got to have a nice bag, immaculate hair and big sunnies. :)

To mom's out there who has daughters who are entirely different from them, lets celebrate their uniqueness and watch them blossom into their own person :)

I love you, Dot :)

COLOUR ME COASTAL

Volturi's New Guard

Leaves of Spring

60's Reloaded

I have heard a lot of great reviews about the Coastal Scents Palette and as a Make Up Artist, I could not help but give into the temptation.

I purchased the following on line: 88 Colour Palette, 88 Shimmer Colour Palette, 28 Neutral Palette and 4 Gel Liners in Truffle, Grape Vine, Sexy Pink and one that does not have a name. hehehe. Its like Magenta. I also got the Synthetic Foundation Brush , which for me rivals natural haired foundation brushes by Department Store brands.

I was not disappointed eventhough the Eyeshadows are dime sized one sweep goes a long, long way as they are all highly pigmented.

Here are some looks that I came up with using Coastal Scents.

AUTUMN/WINTER 2009 BEAUTY TRENDS - THE SMOKEY EYE

MY VERSION
SCARLETT'S LOOK FOR DOLCE AND GABBANA BY PAT MC GRATH

INSPIRATION ONE

In my previous post I mentioned that I love Autumn/Winter because this is the time where you will see a lot of full on looks and really there is nothing better than seeing a really sexy smokey eye.

So, for another post on beauty I decided to do a diffrent type of smokey eye, this time forgoing lining the water line, yet still using the main tool for the look - Black Eyeshadow.

The inspiration comes from the lastest look sported by Scarlett Johansson for the Dolce and Gabbana Make Up done by none other than the great Ms. Pat Mc Grath. :) and also from one of the runway shows. (can't remember the name of the designer )

DMI SPRING SUMMER 2010

FROCKS THAT ROCK BY DMI

Mark this Thursday, December 3 and be at The Warehouse, Le Meridien, Garhoud for the launch for DMI, Spring Summer 2010.

I love seeing new talents in the industry, it is these individuals who really inspire me. It is as if that the fashion industry can't get any better until a newcomer comes along and starts shaking things up.

Iam lucky to have worked with Dmi in this launch and I have never been more happy to hear the inputs of the designers on how he likes the make up, the hair and even on how I would convey his clothes to the public in my styling.

I hope that this launch will inspire budding designers to FINALLY DO IT! :)

BILL BLASS PROVES THAT DESIGNERS, LIKE WINE GETS BETTER WITH TIME

BE STILL MY HEART FOR THIS GIAMBATISTA VALLI LBD DOES FOR ME WHAT MANOLOS DOES TO CARRIE BRADSHAW. :)

Last Wednesday, 18 November, I witnessed the unveiling of the Holiday store windows of Saks Fifth Avenue in partnership with Crystalised Swarovski and Harper's Bazaar... The Holiday Season has finally arrived. I dont know what it is about Crystals that just reminds me of the holiday season... could it be that is just resembles snow?

The unveiling of the store windows did not disappoint. There were many show stopping designs, among them are by Reem Acra, Bill Blass, Ralph Lauren and of course my personal favourite Giambatista Valli.

The tour of Saks will not be complete without passing by the shoe area and when you combine 3 fashion power houses like Saks, Swarovski and Laboutin you get nothing less than perfection at your feet. :)

Moi sans Maquillage

“I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”
- COCO CHANEL

This will perhaps be my most revealing blog, EVER. Revealing because it talks about my daily make up routine, therefore you will see a photo of me sans maquillage!!!

I hope that this will encourage more women out there to try putting on make up, its nothing to be feared, really, you are meant to enjoy it. Just go to any make up counter, don't those vibrant eye shadow colours just cheer you up? It works for me. hehehe. Also, if it does not look good on you.... again, its just make up, just wipe it off.

Whenever I put on make up on other people and like what I said during the Faces Workshop, I always look at the beautiful features in their faces and highlight that. You will be surprised that some women do not even realise that some of them have got long lashes, its just its straight and drops down or that they have nice cheekbones.

As a Make Up Artist and Stylist, its not just my job to put on make up on models but it has sort of become my thrust to make all of the women that I meet see exactly what I see in all of them .... BEAUTY.

THE GREAT TRANSITION

With Summer finally over I began thinking of what I will do with the summer dresses that I have. Should i store them till next summer or should I find a way to wear them for the cold months ahead. Then I realised, why not 'Winterize' some of my summer dresses! This will be fun.

I find it a lot easier to 'winterize' my short summer dresses as opposed to the long ones but lets see how far my creativity goes. :)

The summer dress that I am wearing is made of 2 layes of chiffon plus a cotton lining, so I think that its just perfect for the winter months in Dubai. I think pairing it with textured tights and high heeled oxfords gives the look its Winter feel. By now, you'd have realised that I love accentuating the waist as I have done, yet again on this new post. :)

So, rummage through your Summer outfits and see what you can Winterize and get into The Great Transition

1 ENSEMBLE 5 WAYS

The clock alarmed at 515 and when I looked out the window I could barely catch a glimpse of the sky. It was so dark! Begrudgingly, I dragged myself out of bed and into the shower and it dawned onto me, Summer is really over.

Yellow is perhaps the antithesis of Autumn/Winter... hmm well, maybe when its mustard yellow it can pass for an Autumn Colour, so, what better way to say farewell to the season of sundresses and flipflops, than to wear the colour that says SUMMER.... YELLOW.

I picked my yellowest dress courtesy of The Cabinet Room and paired it with a Black Cardi from Zara. So, while I was putting it all together, another bright idea came to mind. This ensemble can actually be worn in 5 different ways.

1. Tying the cardi high up on your waist ala empire cut.
2. Wearing the cardi backwards (provided the label's stitching is not seen) gives you a boatneck chanelling Jackie O.
3. Backward Cardi with a huge belts gives it an 80's feel
4. And of course doing away with the cardi
5. But the last option was how I actually wore it to work :)

Black and Gold belt from Dragon Mart, Black Peep Toe Sling Backs from Michele Lopriore, Bag from Dolce and Gabbana and Glasses from Prada

So, why dont you try and see how you can maximise an ensemble. You'd be suprised :)
