Tuesday, 20 October 2009, The Warehouse, Le Meridien

The Cabinet Room officially launched its online store and it latest offering for Autumn/Winter 2009.

Prior to the show Abbie showed me the collection as we shot the editorial and keeping in mind the flapper feel of the look, I opted to do a semi 20's look, however, forgoing the black smokey eye prevalent during that era.

The eyes were still smokey but I decided to keep it on the lower lash line, the brows were defined as opposed to the one line brow during the 20's. There was no blush but contoured cheeks and lastly full Aubergine lips.

On the Models
MAC Pro Glitter in Yellow
Make Up Forever Contour Kit
Make Up Forever Kohl Pencil
Maybelline Mascara
MAC Currant Lip Liner
MAC Cyber Lipstick

A huge thanks to Alessia and Arleen for the help backstage!

Last Friday we finally did a shot with Abbie, the woman behind The Cabinet Room for the official launch party at The Warehouse in Le Meridien.

I was very happy to see a whole lot of dresses, however, how to style it and create a look fit for the show and editorial was the part that I loved the best.

When Abbie showed me the headpieces that she wanted the models to wear the only thing that came to mind was that of a sexy flapper! :) See the looks on the models. But for Abbie's shoot, I decided on the traditional smokey eye. Never fails to sexify and woman :)

It was an early start for me and the team as we made our way to Emirates Aviation College for the 1st day of the workshop.

As a self taught Make Up Artist (could not afford courses back then. hehehe) It was a hit and miss for, I am just thankful to the guidance that I had from my mentor, the countless magazines and books that I stared at and read every single day.

There are 3 main thrusts of this workshop and Number One is to EDUCATE women out there that the multitude of Make Up choices are not there to intimidate but to cater to their various needs and lifestyles.

Second is to remind all the women out there that they are all BEAUTIFUL, naturally and can even be more beautiful with the right products and techniques.

And lastly this is a way of giving back. What God has given you is His gift to you and what you do with it is your gift to Him.

This is the Pre Faces Workshop Consultation held at INGLOT's Flagship Store at the Dubai Mall.

Many thanks to all of the participants who brought their things and who patiently waited for tips and recommendations.

To the wonderful staff of INGLOT who helped out, to the 77th Street Team.

I swatched the new M3 AMC Shadows, road tested the brushes and fell in love with the INGLOT lip paints. It was literally a very colourful day for the 77th Street Team.

INGOT is the main sponsor for the 1st ever workshop of 77th Street Productions - Faces by Anna de Leon, A Make Up Workshop.

This is a not so scary Halloween Look, inspired by Jane the character of Dakota Fanning in the upcoming movie New Moon. Since I dont have any red contact lenses, I decided to put a lot of red on the lids to give the illusion of red eyes. And since it is a glamorised Vampire look, I decided to apply blood red lipstick, kept the blush to a minimum and paled my skin.
If there is one vampire movie that I have seen over 10 times, it would only be Queen of the Damned. I think Stuart Townsend was excellent and the late Aliyah was simply breathtaking as Akasha. I love the Soundtrack, most especially. I listened to Deftones, Disturbed for over 2 months whilst i was making my mood board and designs. It does not lull you to sleep but it does inspire you. hehehehe.
Inspired by Lestat's rise to fame as a Rock and Roll god, I decided to up the ante by combining the make up with a mini fashion editorial using goth lace skirts, tailored and sharp jackets, leather, sparkle and some military punches, corset type belts.

Being a Make Up Artist and having full access to my Kevyn (My Make Up Kit) I am pretty much a creature of habit when it comes to my own Make Up Routine. In a way, this is my go to look. Fool proof for me. I basically focus on my skin and brows. Little definition on the eyes with powder liner and curled lashes. I keep the lips light and moist by using cream lipsticks as my lips have a tendency to get dry.

When I need to vamp it up in the evening I just slick on a red lipstick and i am done.

Having long hair means that you can do a lot of styles with it, however, I realised that putting my hair in velcro rollers is the easiest way to get the look that i want without having to deal with a lot of hair products. When I dont have the time to set it I just put my hair in a middle part chignon . :)
